The Eagles’ qualification was confirmed after Libya defeated Rwanda 1-0 in Kigali on Thursday night, November 14.
Libya, still bottom on four points, must now rely on the Eagles to beat Benin Republic later on Thursday in Abidjan to keep their qualification hopes alive.
Also Rwanda who are on five points would also rely on the three-time AFCON winners to defeat Benin to stand a chance of making it to Morocco next year.
Nigeria is on 10 points and would only play their two remaining games hoping to finish top of the group.
The last time the Eagles faced Benin on matchday 1 ended 3-0 in Uyo with Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen getting the goals but Benin defeated the Eagles 2-1 on matchday 4 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier in June.
