The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has been declared as the winner of the Ondo State gubernatorial election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Olayemi Akinyemi, the returning officer for INEC, made this revelation on Sunday at the Ondo State collation center in Akure, the state capital. Former Deputy Governor Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) received 117,845 votes, while the incumbent governor received 366,781 votes, according to Mr. Akinyemi, Vice Chancellor of the Federal University in Lokoja. According to a previous PREMIUM TIMES article, the APC candidate also prevailed in each of Ondo State's 18 local government districts.
There were 3,933 voting places spread across the 18 local government districts for the election. More than 1.7 million Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) were obtained, accounting for 85.6% of the state's 2.05 million registered voters, according to INEC.
